Book Review: I am not a serial killer
November 17th, 2014 by Coral

“I am not a serial killer” by Dan Wells is a thrilling and intriguing book. Written from the point of view of a teenage sociopath, John Cleaver, it explores the emotional struggles he encounters, while also facing a mysterious sinister force that leaves the police scratching their heads. Living above the mortuary and working part time, it’s no surprise that John Cleaver has slightly questionable interests. To be precise, a fascination with serial killers.

John Cleaver takes us through a completely different range of emotions than we are used to. Sociopaths, as opposed to common belief, do feel emotion, just differently than other people. This in itself gives the story a riveting aspect, but there is also an unseen danger lurking in his town. A serial killer, something that John Cleaver just can’t leave alone.

You may think you know where the story is heading, but there are surprises at every turn. I am thrilled with this book, and it’s sequels, “Mr. Monster” and “I don’t want to kill you.”
